Mother's Day

This mother's day I received a wonderful gift from my husband.  He bought me a freezer!  Now I know some of you may not think much about a freezer, but to me it is a blessing.  I will be able to store more food and I will be able to buy more things when they are on sale.
I like to create a huge meal and then freeze a pan so that I can pull it out on a day when I don't feel like cooking.  With a family of 5 mouths to feed, I have to keep a good stock of food on hand.

So I found this picture that Kody had taken.  Apparently, my little ones found a new way to play with our laundry hamper.  Grandma and Grandpa spend money on fancy, expensive toys but these little ones prefer a $5 laundry basket.

This last weekend we had a lot of rain.  We want to show everyone just how much rain we had.
Part of our yard got flooded. This is our little garden, it was right in the middle of our flooded yard.
Kody took this picture of his feet.  We had A LOT of rain.

We had a bookshelf that took up too much room in our bedroom so we decided that we needed to do something with it.  We did not want to throw it away.  Kody had made it almost 3 years ago when we needed a bookshelf and couldn't afford one at the store.  We finally decided to use it as a raised garden.    Everything was already nicely divided.  This is how it started:

and this is our garden now.

We have 4 tomato plants, 1 cilantro plant, 10 onion plants, and 1 sugar baby watermelon plant.  It has been amazing watching these plants grow.  It was nice to know that we could reuse something that we no longer needed.
